Personnel Recommendation

Dear Admiral Stone,

Please excuse me sir for the intrusion, I know how really busy you are from one minute to the next. Thank you for all that you do and the direction you have given this organization. I recently met a gentleman, while taking part in a cargo security seminar at the US Merchant Marine Academy, that so overwhelmed me with his expertise and heart for the nations fight against global terrorism I felt compelled to write you and tell you about him. His name is Erik Hoffer, President of CGM Security Solutions Inc. He also serves as chairman of the education committee for the International Cargo Security Council. I had the pleasure of discussing cargo security with him during the four day course presentation and found his knowledge, professionalism, and genuine selflessness truly refreshing.

During the summer of 2001 I was in the process of retiring from a successful business I started and a 30 year career in interstate commerce. After 9-11 I decided to spend my retirement giving back to the country that has so richly blessed me and my family through the years. Unbeknownst to most TSA personnel here in Tampa, I remain actively involved in the private sector regarding cargo and facility security. I am a member of ASIS, an invited speaker for other industry organizations, and currently serve on the ICSC’s sub-committee for Homeland Security.

Admiral I thought I’ve learned a lot the past 30 years, but sir I must say that Mr. Hoffer “has it in spades”. This is one person I would like to see the TSA “real in” and get involved in the brain trust, not only for his competency, but also for his connection to the business community. This recommendation is made, totally unsolicited, on his behalf. I think you will see in him the same dedication and willingness to lend assistance that I have.
